Karen Harty
DDI (Development Dimensions Intl)
Volunteer, Marketing Committee

This month's spotlight is on a volunteer for the Marketing Committee.

Karen Harty entered the November 2005 Cascadia Chapter's Annual Regional Conference as an exhibitor. She left as a member.

Just five months later, Karen has become a dynamic volunteer in the Cascadia Chapter. She is a tremendous asset to the Marketing Committee, helping to shape the newfound team’s vision, support the strategic planning, and assist with project work such as survey item development. “I like being part of the marketing committee because we are really creating what the committee's charter is, and what the team puts in place will be a good foundation for future years,” Karen explains. Her experience with the Sacramento and Golden Gate chapters is a welcome addition to the Cascadia Chapter. Karen consistently shares best practices from her program committee and other volunteer experiences in California.

As a Relationship Manager with DDI (Development Dimensions International), Karen helps organizations execute more efficiently while growing their people. Her passion for development combined with the DDI’s quality products facilitate the hiring of the right people as well as developing exceptional leadership talent. Additionally, Karen is a volunteer with Willamette Writers Conference; as the program co-chair she is busy planning the August 4-6 Conference. Her other hobbies include cooking, decorating, travel, wine, and spending time with her family…“lots of family with a blended family of six kids!”

Karen’s recognizes that, “everything takes longer than it takes,” yet you never see her sweat. Her exceptional organizational skills coupled with her professional talent, her warm personality, and quick smile are a welcome addition to the chapter. Karen shares that, “I am glad I joined ASTD, and especially glad I joined the marketing committee!” Karen, we are especially glad as well!
