Debra Schlaht and Kathy Goldin
Volunteers, Conference Committee
This month ASTD-Cascadia Chapter is recognizing two members of the Conference Committee: Debra Schlaht and Kathy Goldin. They have been instrumental in developing the speaker RFP and selection process for this important event.
Debra Schlaht
Debra Schlaht has over twenty years of experience in the financial services industry in various capacities, including management, training/development, and project management. She is Six Sigma Green Belt Certified. These corporate experiences provided the background needed to launch her business development company, Human Performance Solutions, LLC in 2005. In addition to volunteering for ASTD, Debra participates as the education facilitator for the Tigard Leadership Institute and other local non-profit groups serving women and teens.
Debra has worked tirelessly as an ASTD volunteer, serving in a variety of capacities. Currently she is chairing the Speakers Subcommittee on the Conference Committee, overseeing the creation and development of the RFP process for selecting breakout speakers. She and her committee have put in many hours behind the scenes to develop the specific breakout tracks for the conference and to streamline the speaker selection process. We are very fortunate to have Debra on our team!
Kathy Goldin
Kathy Goldin has been in human resources, focusing in training and development for more than 20 years. She has worked for the city of Vancouver for almost 10 years providing training and OD skills to City staff. Her focus is in leadership and supervisory development along with human resource policy expertise, work team development and group facilitation skills. She also works as an independent contractor on occasion and works with the Clark College Corporate Education Department.
Kathy is lending her expertise by volunteering as a member of the Conference Committee and serving on the Speaker sub-committee with Debra. She has spent many hours developing the breakout tracks and improving and streamlining the RFP process for speakers. She says, “This experience has given me a chance to try something new and learn about the many processes that go on behind the scenes to make an event like this valuable conference happen. And, I have met so many wonderful people and made so many contacts! What a GREAT experience!”
