Program Description

Networking Event
Taste of ASTD

Overview

Taste of ASTD is the midday counterpart to Sip of ASTD, and is presented on alternate months with that casual evening networking gathering. At Taste of ASTD, participants have the opportunity both to network with colleagues familiar and new, and to hear a short, substantive program from a specialist in workplace learning and performance, while enjoying no-host food and beverages.

Taste of ASTD and Sip of ASTD currently rotate in various locations around the Portland metro area, but ASTD members in other areas of Oregon and SW Washington are invited to create Taste and Sips of their own to support their local workplace learning communities. To explore the idea or to suggest a speaker, contact Taste of ASTD Coordinator, Margie Port, at tasteofastd@astdcascadia.org.

November 19 Program

A friendly, affordable Jantzen Beach restaurant near I-5 and convenient for both Vancouver and Portland guests will be the venue for the next Taste of ASTD event on November 19. The midday gathering will include time for networking and a short program. This popular series has been earning applause from attendees – come “taste” why in November!

Taking Catalytic Action
The ability to sustain employee motivation, energy and curiosity – especially within collaborative teams – is a key skill for today’s workplace learning leaders. A creative catalyst for change enables or accelerates group progress by his or her presence in the mix. Learn how to take catalytic action when things get bogged down, and make your organizational chemistry zing!

Presenter
Bob Lieberman is the founder of Cultivating Creativity, a Portland company that helps business leaders capitalize on the creative potential of their colleagues and themselves. His unique approach combines best practices from the performing arts, technology development, conflict resolution and project management into a practical, creative toolkit for business.

Taste of ASTD is free and open to all workplace learning professionals. Reservations are required. (See below.)
