Directors' Forums are targeted for training and development professionals
who have a minimum of 10 years of training and development (or equivalent) experience and are
responsible for developing training and development strategy. Director level
professionals are also responsible for decision making in their
organizations. These programs are designed to offer strategic insight
and time for round table interaction with peers.
Overview
How do you get traction and buy in from Senior Leadership on your Talent Management and Succession Planning initiative? How do you measure success? How do you assess your high potentials? What tools will be needed?
We heard from you and now have planned a “working session” featuring seasoned professionals who have had success in the area of Talent Management and Succession Planning. You will have an opportunity to learn from these professionals and share your challenges and best practices in small groups. Join us for this highly interactive program.
Goals of this Program
• How to select and assess successors.
• How to determine measures of success.
• How to build a business case that demonstrates value to the organization.
• How to determine the best development approach.
• Share tools and ideas (attendees and facilitators).
Format
• Working session with table facilitators from different industries who will share their ideas and tools and facilitate the conversation so that all attendees can share their ideas and tools.
To Prepare
• Think of your challenges and questions.
• If you have Talent Management experience, bring to the program copies of tools / worksheets you use to plan for talent management and succession planning.
Speakers
Sherri Austin
Senior Performance Consultant
PLS Consulting
Sherri Austin is a Senior Performance Consultant with PLS Consulting, Inc and lead practitioner in the trenches of organizational change, job analysis, selection systems, performance management and succession planning. Sherri has more than 15 years experience collaborating with senior leaders to drive organizational change, working with all levels of an organization to gain a comprehensive understanding of business needs. Sherri has extensive experience in small and large business settings helping clients put the right people in the right place at the right time.
Jan John
Director, OD
Regence
Jan is the Director of Organizational Development for Regence and has over 25 years of experience in the training/human resources field. In her current role she is accountable for OD in the four-state region of Oregon, Washington, Utah and Idaho. Her responsibilities include: coordination of talent management including identification of high potential talent and succession planning; serving as the Regence University Dean for the School of Leadership and Management Development; and leading the company-wide training and transition management strategy for the five-year rollout of a large system conversion. She has also served as the project manager for several cultural change initiative and was appointed to the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 1997.
Jan graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, and earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 1999 from the University of Oregon. She is a member of the American Society for Training and Development and the Society for Human Resource Management. She also is an officer on the Board of Directors for the Portland Youth Philharmonic.
Beth Allen
Director of Training
Harsch Investments
Beth Allen is Director of Training at Harsch Investment Properties, a dynamic and growing real estate investment company which owns and operates more than 130 properties in 5 western states. Beth recently joined Harsch after 14 years at Intel, where she started out as a developer of online training for CAD tools and ended up as a manager at Intel University responsible for Global Employee Learning & Development. Beth’s experience includes developing and managing product and technical training, sales training, new hire training, professional development, and continuing education. She has expertise in evaluation, benchmarking, and employee and management development. Beth received her BS degree in Mathematics Education from Oregon State University and taught high school math and computer science for 5 years prior to joining Intel. Beth lives in Portland with her husband and two daughters. In her spare time she enjoys yoga, music, and leading a Girl Scout troop.
