Note:  The Learning Directors' Forum (formerly Senior Forum) is targeted for training and development professionals who have a minimum of 10 years of training and development (or equivalent) experience and are responsible for developing training and development strategy. Director level professionals are also responsible for decision making in their organizations. These programs are designed to offer strategic insight and time for round table interaction with peers.

Overview

Most companies and organizations have been impacted by major economic changes over the past year. As a learning leader, this environment requires you to run your function as a business with discipline and rigor. But how do you know what optimum or best practice looks like?

Workshop Learning Objectives

• Assess the performance of your learning organization using a multiple diagnostic tools
• Determine specific areas for improvement and create action plans to address gaps
• Apply measurement mapping to drive linkage between business and learning and performance challenges in your organization

This engaging workshop walks you through an evaluation and planning process that helps you benchmark your learning organization’s performance against industry best practices. You will receive a diagnostic toolset that synthesizes industry research and best practices into an easy-to-use evaluation framework, as well as tools and resources to build concrete plans for improvement. You'll come away with guidelines for continuing the analysis back at the office, and a strategic blueprint that you can rapidly apply on the job.

Speakers

Sam Herring
Co-Founder
Intrepid Learning Solutions

Sam Herring is Co-Founder of Intrepid Learning Solutions and leads the company’s consulting, marketing and major account management operations.

Sam is a member of the National ASTD’s Board of Directors, and is recognized as a “Who’s Who” training industry thought leader by TrainingIndustry.com. He is a past chairman of the National ASTD Board of Directors Selection Committee, and is a past advisory committee member of ASTD TechKnowledge and TechLearn conferences. Sam is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences and seminars and universities, where he speaks on topics including designing effective corporate learning strategies, trends in learning technology, and best practices in vendor selection and outsourcing.

Sam holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University, where he studied ethics, religion and public policy, and a Bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University. In 2008, he was recognized as a leading business leader through the Puget Sound Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” awards. He is a director of New Futures, a Seattle area children and family services agency.
