A Strategic Business Partner Approach to "Seat of Your Pants Training": How to Deal with Training Reality
January 26, 2006
Note: Senior Training
Directors' Forums are targeted for training and development professionals
who have a minimum of 10 years of training and development (or equivalent) experience and are
responsible for developing training and development strategy. Director level
professionals are also responsible for decision making in their
organizations. These programs are designed to offer strategic insight
and time for round table interaction with peers.
Overview
What do you do when your training department seems to still be functioning in the 20th century and your organization works in the 21st? How do you meet the business goals and needs of your organization through targeted training? How do you truly align yourself with the organizational strategies? How can I become a strategic partner?
We have organized a program featuring five "Top Notch" training facilitators to work with small groups of attendees to answer these questions - plus many more! Join us for this highly interactive program.
Goals of this Program
- How to strategically plan for training given the reality of the work.
- How to take business goals and translate them into training objectives.
- How to move from "seat of the pants" to a more strategic approach.
- How to earn and keep a seat at the table because you are a strategic business partner.
- Share tools and ideas (attendees and discussion facilitators).
Format
- Working session with table facilitators from different industries who will share their ideas and tools and facilitate the conversation so that all attendees can share their ideas and tools.
Prepare for the Program by:
- Reading the article Strategic Business Partner: How to Earn a Seat at the Table
- Bringing to the program copies of tools / worksheets you use to plan for training.
- Think of times you planned for training - what methodology or tools did you use, what happened, what worked, what would you do differently, what questions do you have for others so you can learn from their experience.
