What's Podcasting? How do I Subscribe?

What's a podcast?

An audio podcast is essentially a radio show distributed through iTunes and the Internet. Potential listeners can easily subscribe, setting their computers to automatically download new episodes and put them on their MP3 player (which can be, but need not be, an iPod).

Listeners can enjoy a podcast on their computer, can burn it to an audio CD, or can listen to it on their portable music player while driving, commuting, working out, wherever.

Okay, so what's PodCascadia?

PodCascadia is ASTD-Cascadia Chapter's podcast. It features articles and interviews with training and development experts from around the corner -- and around the world. Produced entirely by chapter volunteers, the show comes out every two weeks.

Sounds good. How do I subscribe?

You can subscribe to the podcast, which means that a new episode is automatically downloaded to you when it's available, free of charge. You can then listen to it on your computer, on an iPod, or on any other MP3 music player.

The easiest way to subscribe is with iTunes, a free music software program from Apple for both Mac and Windows. You may already have it on your computer; if not you can download it from Apple. Once you launch the iTunes program on your computer, just choose Subscribe to Podcast... from the Advanced menu. [Windows users, you may need to click on Launch Music Store first.]

Then, when it asks for the address, type (or copy/paste):

http://feeds.feedburner.com/podcascadia

How do I give feedback about all of this?

You can send email to podcast@astdcascadia.org or contact the ASTD-Cascadia offices at astd@astdcascadia.org.

Thanks for your interest -- we hope you enjoy the podcast!
