| Responsibilities |
- Monitor the NWREL Web sites to ensure all web pages, including program and center content, meet technical, style, and ADA standards
- Respond to Webmaster email and phone calls providing accurate and quick response to request for information and comments received
- Prepare web communications (HTML, CSS, graphics, design, information architecture) to create useful, findable resources online
- Provides training and technical assistance to staff on new and existing Web technologies; coordinates, schedules, and provides training for users
- Coordinate the internal Web Developers Group
- Compile and analyze data from internal databases and statistics to analyze Web site usage
- Perform detailed proofreading of both writing and technical code
- Edits and rewrites a range of Web content materials for readability; ensures the materials meet Laboratory quality standards for content and format; collaborates with other professional staff to clarify, simplify, and finalize written materials; coordinates review of drafts between proofreader/editor and client so Web content is well written and conforms to laboratory editorial standards
- Create new ways to improve the information architecture, findability, and user-friendliness of the NWREL Web site
- Ensure code and content are optimized for search engines and maximum searchability
- Problem solve code and scripting bugs, and research solutions for Web issues
- Recommend new Web technologies
- Serve as a technical expert on Web site design committees; guide the design and implementation of Web development from conception through implementation by making recommendations based on capability and program requirements; lead development and testing to ensure quality deliverables; provide training to staff and/or clients as requested
- Develops databases for program specific applications as requested.
- Coordinate with other developers and provide guidance to ensure that work is completed in adherence with NWREL policies and procedures

| Requirements |
- Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: The successful applicant should have the following skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Five years directly related experience including demonstrated experience in web technologies, information architecture, coding to standards, search engine optimization, scripting, graphics creation and optimization, and learning new and changing technologies
- Good interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated web development experience in LAMP environment, including HTML, CSS, MYSQL, PHP/Perl
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
- Three years experience hand coding HTML
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, computer science, or related field preferred
- Demonstrated experience as a Webmaster in an equivalent or larger sized organization preferred
- Problem Solving:
Prioritizing assigned work to meet deadline requirements, including due dates for multiple, time-sensitive reports
- Selecting data and information resources to use in daily work and team contributions
- Managing time effectively in order to complete assigned tasks on time and with a high level of quality
- Follows established practices and procedures
NWREL procedures
- Quality Control, web development and publication standards to assure quality control compliance
- Supervision may be indirect and after the fact
- Overall work is reviewed during annual performance evaluation and periodic discussion with supervisor
- Sit for prolonged periods of time, finger dexterity for the operation of a personal computer, operate a telephone, ability to lift or transport small packages weighing up to 40 pounds, frequent interruptions to concentration, interact with a wide range of clients and co-workers
- Low travel requirements (0% to 15 % of work schedule) including overnight stays out of state
- Ability to travel by car, plane or common carrier for out of state and rural travel
- Ability to transport and/or handle moderate sized packages and materials (up to 40 pounds) at on-site locations

| Salary Range |
Salary range: $40,300 - $69,100 per year based on experience, plus a benefits package that includes vacation, generous employer paid retirement, medical, dental, life insurance, transportation benefit, and opportunities for ongoing professional development |
