Specific Program

August 26, 2010: How to Work with Recruiters
with Merilee Schillinger, Patrice Servin, Don Dimick

Learn about agency and corporate recruiters. How do you locate a recruiter? What should you look for in a recruiter? What should you expect? What are the benefits of working with a recruiter? We've rounded up a select group of recruiters to answer all of these questions and more.

Merilee Schillinger draws from over 20 years experience in the high-tech industry. With her roots in human resources she steered her career focus to technical recruiting after discovering her passion for connecting high-tech professionals with great opportunities in an ever-evolving industry. Her five years as an agency recruiter paved the way to becoming an “in house” recruiter for great companies like Unicru, Intel, Sabrix and now Tripwire. In her 10+ years as a recruiter she has filled a diverse variety of high-tech industry positions. Merilee is a consummate networker and strongly advocates for the increasing use of social networking as a primary tool in both job seeking and career development. Merilee holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Western Washington University. Learn more about Merilee at http://www.linkedin.com/in/merileepdx.

Patrice Servin is a Principal Technical Recruiter with over 13 years of mixed corporate and agency recruiting experience in Portland. Patrice is currently employed as a Principal Corporate Recruiter at APCON, Inc in Wilsonville. She began her corporate recruiting career with ADP Dealer Services. In addition, she has worked as a technical recruiter for Nike, Merix, RadiSys Her agency recruiting roles have been at DB Professionals and Momentum Management Resources. Patrice is very passionate about educating people around the whole employment cycle. She wants them to be empowered to understand the process, how it works and how to best present themselves so they get the opportunity to interview and get jobs. Patrice conducts working sessions with local user groups- most recently at Portland’s Code Camp- where she educates candidates on resume writing, how to manage the hiring process and how to use headhunters and job boards effectively.
