Intended Audience Anyone interested in exploring topics that relate to the design, delivery and development of eLearning and the use of social media to support learning, including learning theories, practical skills, tools, and case studies.
Overview of Event
Sims, Scenarios and Games in E-Learning
This presentation will cover some basics of incorporating simulations, scenarios and games into elearning design and development. Topics covered will include:
- Some basic definitions and components of simulations, scenarios and games
- Demonstrations of each of these elements
- Project and cost ramifications for incorporating these elements into elearning
- Discussion of some real-life successes (and failures) in developing these elements for various learner populations
- Some possibilities for using Adobe Captivate to incorporate these elements into elearning
Steven Browning, Ph.D., is an elearning designer and project manager in Portland, where he is President of RoebuckJones Consulting. He also serves as Director of Learning Strategies and Content Development for QC Enhanced Learning, where he manages the design of e-learning suites and blended learning solutions. He currently teaches in the Graduate School of Education at Portland State University, and has taught courses in writing for online environments and digital rhetorics at the University of Washington and the University of Houston. Since the late 1990’s Steve has been developing and managing elearning design teams for clients including pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporations, software manufacturers, television and media companies, continuing education providers, and governmental agencies.

CPLP Recertification Credit
CPLPs earn one recertification point/credit for each physical hour of continuing education within one’s current role/job or involving a new experience or content. You will need to keep records of the event and prepare any paperwork required by National ASTD. CPLP Website.
