Learning Leaders Forum
Using Social Media to Build Organizational Knowledge
Panel with Josh Bancroft, Andrew McLaughlin and Todd Carlson

Intended Audience
The Learning Leaders' Forum is designed for workplace learning professionals who have a minimum of 10 years of workplace learning experience (or equivalent) and are responsible for developing workplace learning strategies. These programs are designed to offer strategic insight and time for round table interaction with peers.

Overview
In this session, you’ll hear three speakers share their stories about how they implemented social media to build and share organizational knowledge:

  • Josh Bancroft will share how Intel created a team-based wiki collaboration site that now contains over 15,000 articles.
  • Andrew McLaughlin will explain how a small company, ISITE Design, implemented JIVE software.
  • Todd Carlson will describe how Mentor Graphics takes a different approach than many organizations—rather than tightly restricting tools, they support a variety of different social media tools.

More than just buying or adopting a social media tool, what does it take for it to become integral to the organization? How do you encourage and support people so that they share what they know?

Each speaker will share the challenges they faced, how they implemented the social media tool, what they learned, and tips and suggestions to be successful.

Outcomes

  • Find out how to encourage people to share knowledge using social media
  • Get powerful tips that you can use in implementing social media to build organizational knowledge
  • Learn at least 3 things NOT to do
