A Message From the VP of Outreach

There are a number of different areas that fall under the VP Outreach. Ranging from the student groups to the online communities, this area focuses on serving communities beyond the current membership. Two key focus areas for the chapter in 2007 have been diversity and communication, so Outreach has been busy developing a strategic inclusion plan for the chapter, as well as continuing to deliver programming through the podcast and developing the new blog.

While the diversity focus until now has been on providing training for our members and other local professionals, we are now taking another step to look at inclusion at the organizational level through a multi-year strategic initiative. We will be sharing the first two years of groundwork and the plans for the future with other chapters at the ASTD Leadership Conference in Washington DC in October.

There are are a number of opportunities in Outreach to get involved, from working with the diversity and inclusion initiative, to participating in the blog, and helping with the podcast. I welcome anyone who is interested in opportunities to serve the chapter in these areas to contact me.
