When I joined ASTD 6 years ago, I decided to "jump right in" to learn more. Never did I realize how much value this organization provided nor the caliber of the people with whom I would be in contact. I have been on the Board as the VP of Volunteers, the Secretary and,
now, this year, as VP of the Regional Conference.
Last year was our first conference and it was highly successful. This year will be even better. Please check your calendars and save the evening of November 17 and all day on November 18 in Portland. Building on the success of last year's conference, we have designed this year's conference with even more opportunities for networking and learning. Presenters are coming from places as diverse as France, Colorado, Seattle, and Oregon. We will have many more exhibitors and a professionally run bookstore.
Keynote speakers, Kevin Oakes and Barbara Schaetti are nationally and internationally known experts in their fields. We will have 4 tracks this year: Organizational transformation, elearning, Performance Improvement and Coaching and Consulting. There is something for everyone whether you do direct training, elearning, OD, consulting, HR.....
We are VERY excited to tell you that the conference has been approved for 6.5 hours recertification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).
The conference has also been approved for one hour of
elective college credit through Portland State University.
New this year as well, we are proud to announce the annual Impact Awards, honoring individuals and companies who demonstrate excellence in the training and development field. Winners will be announced at the Thursday evening reception.
And, yes - we will again have a Chocolate Fountain for your dining pleasure!
I encourage you to go to our conference web page
to learn more and to register online. A discounted registration is valid through October 6 so hurry and beat the date. I hope to see you there!
