Message from the Board

ASTD-Cascadia Chapter is an active chapter aimed at meeting the needs of training and development professionals in Oregon and southwest Washington. The success of the chapter relies on input from members regarding services that would be useful and would assist them in their work environment.

Strategic Planning

Each November, a new board is appointed. One of the first tasks the board takes on is strategic planning for the upcoming year. The next few months are a good time for you to voice your opinions on what types of programs and events you would like to see offered in 2006. Tell us what we are doing right and where we have room for improvement. If you would like to provide us with input to aid in our strategic planning, please send an email with the subject “Strategic Planning 2006” to astd@astdcascadia.org.

National Certification

ASTD is currently piloting a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) program. We would like to be able to connect members who are participating in this or any other ASTD National Certification Program for the purposes of discussing the program and/or studying together for the certification exam. If you are involved in any of the ASTD National Certification Programs and would be interesting in connecting with other local chapter members, please notify our business office at astd@astdcascadia.org.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to connect with and learn from other professionals in the local community. The professional development area is looking for individuals to assist in redesigning the current ASTD Cascadia resources website as well as exploring online collaborative technologies to be implemented by the chapter. If you are interested in volunteering for either of these projects or would like additional information, please contact me at skemp@amfam.com for further details.

In addition, a number of other volunteer possibilities exist. If you wish to volunteer in some other capacity, communicate your interests to the VP of Volunteers at sgroff@viatraining.com.

Scheduled Programs

ASTD Cascadia offers a number of quality programs. Don’t forget to check out the upcoming programs. These are great opportunities to learn, network, and share ideas with others in the local community.

We look forward to meeting your needs in the upcoming months and in 2006. Get involved! Your participation really can make a difference!
