Message from the Board

"I am very proud to be a part of the ASTD-Cascadia Chapter. I have learned so much about people, training and development, change, organizations, and just plain met and have grown new friends and acquaintances.

About my role with ASTD - I am the "other duties as assigned" piece of many job descriptions. Title: Secretary :-) I take care of minutes, coordination of meetings, agendas, communication among and between the other board members and just try to put things together. Move over to the Board page and take a look at the minutes to give you an idea. There is a lot of "behind the scenes" work done to make this chapter the success it is. I am also active on the Regional conference Committee preparing for a fantastic conference in November!

About my background - I am an RN by background and had worked in that capacity for over 30 years in ICU, education and Hospice. Many years after obtaining my BS, I returned to school for an MA in Business Communication and worked in contract and computer training. In June 2003, I was given my dream opportunity of being a the Manager of Employee training at Providence and have been tasked to develop interpersonal training opportunities for the entire region. The opportunities and challenges have been awesome! I love computers, books, films, theater, music and my 6-month-old grand dog - a Boston Terrier named Pepper.

Why I stay involved - I make time for ASTD for a couple of reasons. It is the best resource for information and networking in the T&D profession. This chapter is award winning and has the most talented and fantastically brilliant people I have ever met. My hope is that some of that will rub off!

Please check us out - come to the programs. Say hello - I am generally at the registration table at the programs. There are some amazing talent and information coming up! Peace to you all.
