A Message from the VP of Interest Groups
Spring and Summer! Have you ever stopped to notice how trees blossom and grow each year, adding new growth? ASTD offers the same opportunity for trainers to continually grow and blossom into a truly, professional trainer in their field.
This is my second year as the VP of Interest Groups with the ASTD-Cascadia Chapter. It has been an incredible two years being on the board of directors. The training and networking opportunities have been phenomenal. Geographical Interest Groups, also known as GIGs, are an excellent venue to meet and network with other trainers and professionals in the field. We currently have GIGs starting up in Salem and Eugene, and our Central Oregon GIG has a full slate of meetings scheduled for the remainder of 2006 and into 2007.
The ASTD-Cascadia Chapter covers the state of Oregon and SW Washington.
Many trainers, new to the field find valuable information and tools by attending monthly GIGs in their area. The opportunity to network with other training professionals in the field is invaluable. Geographical Interest Groups are just a small part of what ASTD has to offer to support training professionals. Visit our website at www.astdcascadia.org to learn more about ASTD programs and opportunities.
If you’d like to start a Geographical Interest Group in your area, and give other training professionals an opportunity to network and learn, please contact me for more information. Also, refer to the Programs link on the ASTD-Cascadia Chapter web site to what exciting trainings and events are happening in your area.
Have a wonderful Summer!.
