Message from the Board

Volunteering is the lifeblood of any nonprofit organization. I am excited about my position as the VP of Volunteers because I have seen first hand how volunteers can drive and change an organization. Volunteers have been a strong driver in our chapter. I am devoting this year to ensuring volunteers have the tools and recognition they need so that we can use everyone's talents in new and exciting ways.

I started the year by creating a volunteer survey to find out what volunteer's perspectives were regarding needs and motivations. I then
created a thank you card. Hopefully you have received several as you have helped on projects.

I then redesigned the website (with the invaluable help of Kathleen) to give greater real estate to the volunteers. You might have noticed that we are now posting volunteer opportunities on our site.

We are also recognizing volunteers monthly in two ways:

We are acknowledging all volunteers monthly and highlighting a featured volunteer. In addition, starting this month, every volunteer that participates in a month is entered in that month's drawing for gift certificates to various retailers.

We will begin to look for lots of volunteers as our needs are defined for our November regional conference so think about lending a hand at this very successful 2nd annual event.

I know that every time I volunteer I always gain more than I give. I hope that you find volunteering at our chapter is as rewarding as I have
experienced.
