Message from the Board

A Message from Events

The new year is such a high time! We start out with a clean slate and have the opportunity to start anew. ASTD provides each member with a rich and exciting landscape to the new land of opportunity, but how do we get there? Community. We have each other and our strong cumulative pearls of wisdom. The journey is ripe with friendly sojourners to encourage, share and light our path.

As leaders of the learning and performance profession, we are called on each day to “pull the rabbit out of the hat” with new ways to facilitate personal productivity and organizational success. Not an easy hat to wear! Our community is vital in providing access to resources and knowledge we alone do not have.

LET LEARNING LEAD YOU IN 2006! This year we have an excellent line-up in store. Our mission is to knock your socks off by delivering top-notch, high-impact, competency based programs that get you involved and inspired. And these programs will be tied to the ASTD national competency model to assist you in building core competencies as 21st century professionals.

Engagement is key. We are starting new CONNECT THE DOTS sessions to help members get to know each other and share what’s up in your world. We all need to keep our vital stats up to date on the changing landscape of T&D. We are our best possible resource for that! Stay tuned for updates on these new sessions where we unite and connect the dots from our valuable knowledge warehouses.

As your VP of events, the power of learning to transform lives is a passion for me. I absolutely believe in the power of “us”. If you would like to volunteer with the Events Committee or have program suggestions, PLEASE SHARE! We appreciate all input from you, our esteemed T&D partners.
