ASTD-Cascadia Chapter is one of over 150 local chapters of
the National ASTD organization and, as such, is guided by
the principals and requirements of the national
organization.
National ASTD's Mission and Vision
Linking People, Learning and Performance
Mission: Through exceptional learning and
performance, we create a world that works better.
Vision: A world-wide leader in
workplace learning and performance.
National ASTD Resources for Chapter Leaders
National ASTD's web site contains a wealth of information
for chapter
leaders, including getting on the National Chapter
Leader Email
List.
ASTD Leader Institute
Developed and maintained by Aaron Munter, Past President, ASTD-Cascadia Chapter for National ASTD, the ALI is another resource for Chapter leaders.
CORE
A major responsibility of each chapter is to meet the
minimum operational ad legal requirements set forth by
National ASTD. These requirements are known as CORE
(Chapter Operating Requirements).
Your individual functional area may be impacted by
specific CORE requirements so it's a good idea to become
familiar with them in terms of planning your activities.
The Cascadia Chapter meets and exceeds the CORE
requirements every year.
National Membership
National ASTD requires that all Chapter board members
be national members. To help defray that financial burden
on individual board members, National ASTD offers a
special price of $100 (instead of the usual $180) and the
local Chapter will pay half of that cost.
If you are not yet a national member, you will need to
complete the special
board application and ask the ASTD office for a $50
check payable to National ASTD. You can pay for your
national membership by credit card or check. You can mail
in the application with your payment or the ASTD office
can do it for you.
If you are already a national member, you will need to
let the ASTD office know when your national renewal will
be so we can track when to get you the Chapter portion of
your national membership.
