About the Chapter

Welcome to the introductory page about our award-winning Cascadia Chapter!

The Cascadia Chapter was formed in 1947 and is affiliated with the national ASTD organization. Many early members of the Chapter were from the "Silicon Forest" outside Portland, Oregon and high tech industries. We currently stand at over 600 members and growing.

Throughout the years, the Chapter gladly provided services to those outside the Portland metro area. In 1997, the Board decided to make our expanded service area official. Hence, the renaming of the Chapter from the Portland Metro Chapter to the Cascadia Chapter. We cover the entire state of Oregon and parts of SW Washington. We are the only Chapter to cover such a broad geographical area.

Our Chapter is proud of our rich and varied history and of the lessons learned in operating a non-profit organization. The Chapter has been fortunate to have leaders of vision who were willing to tackle the operational issues along with building cutting-edge programs and fostering networking among training professionals. The Chapter has been awarded numerous accolades from the national ASTD organization for such leadership.

With our members' and volunteers' help, we will continue our efforts to be the premier resource for training and development professionals in our service area.
