Welcome to the e-Learning Strategies course. You will spend two days together focusing on the practical application of e-learning principles. To start, we would like everyone to introduce themselves. Just tell us your name, briefly about your background, and why you are taking this class. For example,
Hello, I’m Sandi. I have been a trainer and instructional designer, but have limited experience with e-learning.
I’m here because I want to understand more about the strategies and gain additional background.

Hi all!
I am very excited to meet all of you at my workshop titled: Learning Management Systems - Is Your Organization Ready? We will be discussing many of the issues related LMS implementation. We will also be taking a test drive of a system soon to launch at the state of Oregon.
So, what about me? Well, I have been a learning professional since 1998, serving in a number of learning roles. More recently, I have focussed my time with learning technologies, having served on project teams which focussed on e-Learning strategy.
I am currently a Project Manager for the state of Oregon, implementing a learning management system to all statewide agencies, boards and commissions.
I look forward to learning with you and sharing many of my project related experiences.
I am very intertested to hearing about your e-learning experiences as well as what you want to learn about learning management systems?

Hi. I’ll be teaching the section on “Designing eLearning Programs.” I’m an Instructional Design Lead at Kaiser Permanente, and have been designing eLearning for 15 years. In the last 2 years, I’ve been focusing on helping train other people within Kaiser Permanente to design and develop eLearning.
What questions do you have about design or about eLearning? What specific things are you looking to get out this 2-day program?
Also, before and after the program, feel free to join in conversation with your colleagues. After all, we’re all here to learn more about eLearning. We all have experiences to share. So don’t be shy!

Hello!
I will be the first instructor on Thursday morning for the “Foundational Concepts in eLearing” session. I’ll look forward to meeting each of you and getting the program off to a strong start.
I have been working as a consultant in training & development for over ten years and I have had a significant focus on eLearning. I have the opportunity to work inside many companies and experience and influence how they all implement, design and develop their learning programs.
Please let us hear from you! And I look forward to seeing you soon!

I am the HR Manager for Deschutes Public Library and want to learn more about what is effective in e-learning, especially with blended learning. I have prepared sexual harassment training using PowerPoint for new employees, trained on Camtasia (but have yet to put into use), and other trainings using PowerPoint. Would like to know the “best” supplemental software to use with PowerPoint. Best way to prepare others to use e-learning as a tool for their staff. How to establish standards. I will use it mainly for core competency training under an umbrella called DPL University or Academy or something similar. So looking for ways to add clips, where to get those clips, and how to use effectively. Sorry–this is very wordy!

I work in the area of performance development for LibertyBank which is headquartered in Eugene with an employee base of around 250. We have purchased CBT from various industry vendors and would like to develop some basic learning modules internally. My purpose for attending the eLearning Strategies program to gain insight and techniques for effective delivery of content. I am also very interested in the types of software others are using to develop elearning. The course description seems very much in alignment with projects in my company. I am look forward to meeting and networking with the instructors and participants.

I have worked as an HR Representative for 2 1/2 years for a manufacturing plant and am currently working toward a masters in adult education. My site has approx 200 employees but our company has 16 sites ranging from 200-4000 employees at each site. I am working with the corporate training team to prepare and present a proposal for investing further in the eLearning our company does, currently it is very limited. I am interested in learning everything I can about different types of eLearning, how to use it effectively and how to prepare and implement new eLearning strategies.

I did video conferencing demos and training for 5 years at Intel then I did web-based courses and training webcasts for 5 years.
The last 3 years I have been creating technical documents and face-to-face training for factory workers.
Two very different experiences. I enjoy both and don’t want to lose my e-learning skills. I am in the class to learn new principles and refresh my skills.

Hello. My name is Sara Hargrave. I am a teacher and program coordinator of computer technologies for Portland Community College at Coffee Correctional Facility.
I have been in the computer technology arena for 28 years. My passion for teaching grew out of a need among past employers to train other employees about programs or other computer technology related knowledge I possessed. As I began to train others, I realized not only did I have a knack for understanding automated solutions, but I also have a gift for imparting my knowledge to others. Gradually, I began to be seen not simply as a computer expert, but more of a computer instructor. I increasingly found the role of teacher to be ideally suited to my preferences and strengths.
Shortly after receiving my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at the University of Phoenix, in 2004, I realized I needed to continue strengthening my knowledge and credentials. Now, determined to carve a path toward a career in adult education, I enrolled in the Oregon State University’s Master of Adult Education program and graduated on the 15th of June 2008.
My purpose for enrolling in this e-learning training session is to continue to build and strengthen my training skills. As I continue to learn more about the digital world I gain an understanding that elearning is the direction not only organization are going, but community colleges as well. I enjoy curriculum development and would like to learn how to develop elearning strategies and methodologies as well.
I am looking forward to learning with you and from you.

Hello Attendees of eLearning Strategies!
I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed having each one of you in my session covering Foundations! Thanks for being fully engaged in the learning process by asking questions and participating in all of our activities and group discussions. I really enjoyed our time together.
I’d like to encourage you to continue using this blog space to have some further conversations and ask questions.
A few of you have sent me emails and that is fine also. We learn from one another, so by using the blog we can allow the entire group to share our learning process and current knowledge!

It was my understanding the attendees from the session will have access the presenters PowerPoint presentations. I am planning to share some of the information at our Eugene chapter meeting in August and would like clean copies of the material. Thank you.
